Hadih! My name is Sheila Iwanciwski, and I’m a teacher candidate in the UNBC Bachelor of Education program.
One night I had a dream about a foot-bridge, covered with soft grass and wildflowers, that stretched into the ocean. I heard a voice telling me to apply to the B.Ed. program, so I did. I’m now studying to become an Elementary Educator and will complete my Bachelor of Education in December 2025. I’m very grateful that I have the chance to further my education.
As a teacher, I want to build the self-esteem of my students and let them know that they can do anything they set their mind to. We all fall but only the strong continue to get up. I want my students to know that they are strong, and I want to equip them to get up when life pushes them down. I also want to encourage the idea of life-long learning – we don’t stop learning until we leave this earth. I always thought I was too old to go back to school but now I know there is no age-limit to learning.
