I was born and raised in Quesnel, BC and lived on a beautiful farm on the Blackwater Road for the first 16 years of my life. When I was young, my Grandma moved from Saskatchewan to BC to live with us, and she became a bridge for me, connecting me to a few parts of my Cree heritage.

After leaving high school, I spend a year living in England to attend Bible school and was bitten by the travel bug. I love experiencing different cultures through travel and have also hosted exchange students from South Korea, Columbia, and Australia. I love traveling and hiking with my family.

When I got married, I moved to Chetwynd and had my three precious children there. We moved to Prince George in 2001 and lived as visitors on the traditional unceded territory of the Lheidli T’enneh First Nation. Iβm grateful and humbled to be living on this beautiful land. My three kids have grown into caring and responsible adults, and they’ve encouraged me to go back to school to complete my university degree. I began studying at UNBC in 2022 and have been able to take many interesting courses. I’ve even learned a bit about my Cree heritage and am excited to learn more about my culture in the coming years.
Some of my favourite things include hiking, exploring nature, reading, and playing piano. I really love creating artwork using natural materials that I’ve collected on my hikes or in my backyard. Iβm not particularly skilled at artwork, but Iβve learned that it is the βdoingβ of these hobbies that enrich our lives, not how accomplished we are at them. Here is a self portrait that I created for a class using leaves, pine needles, pine cones, twigs, birch bark, and watercolours:

I can’t help but mention my fun pets, Hollyhock, Michael, and Boba. They make my life interesting and fun! Their personalities are very different. Boba, our dog, is hyper and crazy but also very sweet. Hollyhock, our black and white cat, is rambunctious and cuddly, while Michael, our gray cat, is shy. Here are some pictures of the furry crew!
