I was born and raised in Quesnel, BC and lived on a beautiful farm on the Blackwater Road for the first 18 years of my life. When I was young, my Grandma moved from Saskatchewan to BC to live with us, and she became a bridge for me, connecting me to a few parts of my Cree heritage. She passed away when I was very young, and I didn’t learn much about my heritage after that. I’m a member of the James Smith Cree Nation, but I have had virtually no connection to my culture because my bridge left this world.

After leaving high school, I spend a year living in England in the early β€˜90’s to attend Bible school and was bitten by the travel bug. I love experiencing different cultures through travel and have also hosted exchange students from South Korea, Columbia, and Australia. I love traveling with my family.

I moved to Chetwynd when I got married and had my three precious children there. We moved to Prince George in 2001 as visitors on the traditional unceded territory of the Lheidli T’enneh First Nation. I’m grateful and humbled to be living on this beautiful land. My three kids have grown into caring and responsible adults, and they have encouraged me to go back to school to complete my university degree. I began studying at UNBC in 2022, and I’ve learned so much including information about my Cree heritage.  I’m excited to learn more about my culture in the coming years.
